Bumper Harrier entry for South of England Road Relays; Success at English Track Championships

News this week: The Harriers have submitted its biggest team entry ever for the forthcoming prestigious South of England Road Relays. A few of the Wells City Harrier youngsters were in action at the u15/u17 national track and field Championships last weekend (Aug 30th) at Bedford. Other Harrier members raced at the series of races at Ash on the Sunday (Aug 31st).

There was some great road racing over the Bank Holiday weekend with Harriers involved at the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k race on Sunday, and then the Baltonsborough 5 mile road race on the Monday. Results from the Baltonsborough races are here:

Hail the South West Champions, and the Crook Peak winner!

There was a good number of Harriers competing at last weekend’s South West Track & Field Championship, held at Exeter (Sunday August 17th). Emily Smith, Oliver Fox, Luke Prior and Harry Lane won their respective events to be crowned SW champions. Later in the week, Oliver proved himself head and shoulders above the rest again at the tough Crook Peak Fell race.

Night of personal bests on the road at Yeovilton 5km and call for the Southern Road Relays Sept 20th/21st

There was a great night of racing at the Yeovilton 5km on Wednesday night (August 13th) with 24 Harriers competing in the field of 162 runners. There was some 10 or so personal bests which is probably a good indicator of conditions, individual form and level of competition provided.
British Men’s Team promoted - CONGRATULATIONS! - and success at Haselbury race

This past week has seen the men’s track team win promotion following the last British Mens League match of the season at Bournemouth on Saturday (August 9th). Meanwhile there were 8 Harriers competing at last Wednesday’s Haselbury Plucknett multi-terrain race, and Jon & Steve won veteran awards in the main 10km event, whilst Georgia was 2nd in the junior race covering 6km.
