QUALIFIED HARRIER COACHES

ALL of our coaches are volunteers and receive no payment for their dedication. They coach at Harrier sessions following Club and England Athletics policies.

Below is a list of our qualified coaches with the date when they first qualified as Assistant coaches, in some cases going on later to be Full Coaches.

Some (*] have now coached continuously virtually every week with the Harriers for 15 to 20 years and have delivered well over 500 coached sessions, whilst others have either joined us some years after taking their qualification, or have been able to 'fill in' by helping out from time to time. The list below shows when they started coaching regularly with the Harriers.

Coaches receive free Harrier annual membership and appropriate coaching kit. They can also call upon some equipment to help them deliver sessions. Most have been trained to deliver a range of coaching components and so for instance, whilst many specialise in endurance running for older juniors and seniors because of the nature of the Club, they can also deliver sessions appropriate to a very young age (8 & above) which cover all of the fundamentals (balance, coordination etc) and encourage youngsters at a range of track & field events.

WANT TO BE A COACH?

We are again RECRUITING TO THE COACHING TEAM. Please contact Paul Chadwick, Graham Goldsmid, or Jon James if you want to know more about what it entails and talk through with the Harrier Secretary Alexander Coombs about how the Club will pay for your coaching course. See Coaching with England Athletics

The Club will pay for your coach training but you are expected to contribute to sessions on a regular basis - we are currently particularly keen to recruit some more women coaches to work with our junior athletes.
