Wednesday 25th May 8.00pm at the Wells Rugby Club will see the 34th Annual General Meeting of the Wells City Harriers and the committee invite all members to attend in order to receive a report on the past year and to elect the new committee. We are particularly looking for someone to take over as the new webmaster from Bob (Powell) who has been looking after the website for the best part of 10 years! Bob will advise/guide any volunteer, along with help from Andrew & Paul. Meanwhile as usual, this past week the Harriers have been out competing on a number of fronts, at track and field in The British Athletics League and South West League Div1 and also on the road at the Yeovilton 5km race. 8 out of 10 Harriers achieve personal bests,whilst the other 2 gain season bests at British Milers Club meet

There was some excellent middle-distance running at the Bank Holiday, Monday evening, British Milers Club (BMC) meeting. Elise Thorner led the way with an excellent personal best of 2.13.97 for 800m, whilst Luke Prior was pick of the 1500m runners for the Club with his 4.04 personal best. Elise -number 97- comes through to win in a new pb.
Some of the older juniors and seniors will compete in the Yeovil Olympiads team this coming Saturday (7th May) at the mens British Athletics League fixture. Others will combine with the YOAC team at the SW Athletics League Div 1 match at Exeter on Sunday. Note- entry to the Somerset County athletics Championships should be made as soon as possible to assist the organisers. - fixture is 14th & 15th May at Yeovil. see calendar entry
Over 30 Harriers clock good times at Glastonbury, whilst ten juniors compete at the Yeovil Open T&F meeting

Harriers have been out competing at track and field, and on the road this past Bank Holiday weekend. At the Spring Open track and field meeting held at Yeovil Arena on Saturday 30th April, a number of the junior Wells City Harriers competed in order to try and get selected for the joint team with Yeovil Olympiads that competes in the South West Athletics League Division one. They did not disappoint with a number having good early season performances. Meanwhile we had over 30 runners competing at the Glastonbury road races and a sprinkling of runners at the Dorset Villages Marathon from Sturminster Newton where Tim Hawkins was 3rd, with Justin Thomas & Orlando Brooke 2nd in the Marathon Relay event. This past weekend has seen half a dozen of the Wells City Harrier members take on the London Marathon.Amongst the crowd of 35,000 runners, we had Charlotte & Sam Baker, Berni Mundy, Rob Moore, Andy Piper and Duncan Verel giving it a really good go. Meanwhile, closer to home there were a number of Harriers competing at the Somerset County AA/Somerset schools multi-events competition at the Millfield track, and all of them did really well.

The track and field season has now started for 2016. This past weekend there were a few of the talented juniors competing for the combined Yeovil Olympiads team at Winchester in the Southern Athletics League. On Monday evening (18th April) the Harrier training group held their first multi-event competition evening of the season for the juniors coached by the Club - there was no lack of endeavour displayed by all who took part from ages 8 to 16. Coming up are the County multi-events this coming weekend and then the Spring Yeovil Open meeting on Saturday 30th April. Read on for all the details.
