At the Harrier-supported Babcary Road race and accompanying junior races, on Sunday 26 February, there was no lack of effort shown by all 125 in the main 7.5 mile road race, nor the accompanying junior races, on road or around the field. Winning runs came from Brighton & Hove Ac's Matthew Bristow and Maiden Newton's Linda Lascelles. There were 15 Harrier competing but equally strong representation from other local Clubs, including Langport Runners, Weston AC and Yeovil Town Road Runners, amongst others

This past weekend, whilst a number of senior Harriers have continued to train hard for forthcoming Spring half or full marathons, or tough endurance races, there were a few juniors competing indoors at Birmingham indoor arena – with great performances by Ollie Thorner and Vicky & Ed McCabe. Meanwhile there’s a whole phalanx of Harriers/YOAC members selected for the English Schools XC Championships, and Harrier members are busy preparing to host a range of Somerset Series events: Babcary; Butleigh & Wells Fun Run. Wells City Harriers had just the Thorner twins competing at the Gwent League on Sunday on a bitterly cold afternoon in South Wales, and one outright winner when u17 Elise won her race. Also in action were 5 of the Harrier seniors at the 2nd in the year’s Somerset Race Series and another couple at the Wiltshire Ten, where Pete Grist had a good run for 7th place.

February 5k Results & Feb Junior Results
The 167th edition of the Street 5km Road race and the junior 1km & 2km road races takes place on Wednesday 8th February. We are now getting close to the end of the 28th Series - now known as the Clive & Angela Thomas Street 5k Series, and so far this autumn/winter there hasn't been any diminution in effort shown by those taking part, regardless of conditions. Results for the February races will be posted up here when available but read on for a link to Street race times so far this season, and other news including a Harrier call for team members for the Gwent League XC match and later in the year for the Wessex Ridgeway 100km Relay and the Cotswold Way 103 mile Relay.
Excellent weekend of Cross country running by Harriers at South West Schools & British Universities Championships

The Harriers had 31 of its junior training squad members from Millfield or Yeovil training bases out competing at the South West School XC Championships this past weekend, and a further 7 current or former members competing at the British University’s XC Championships. The pick of the day from the SW Schools, held in Truro, was by Daisy Pellow who finished 2nd in the Minor Girls race; by Jake Fisher 3rd in the Minor Boys race; and by Oliver Dickinson 2nd in the senior boys race. At the British Universities Championships, held at Sheffield, Oliver Fox was highest finisher, 32nd, in the men’s long race, whilst Luke Prior was 11th in the men’s short race.
