There was yet another great weekend of running by Harriers of all ages this past weekend. On the Saturday we had three crack teams of u15 juniors out competing at the prestigious UK Road relays. This keeps up a tradition going back over 15 years or so of the Club sending teams. Meanwhile Tim Hawkins went sub-3 again when running for a select V45 England team at the Chester Marathon; and Chris Green was in the top 3 at the tough Mendip Muddle. Wells City Harriers were out in force again at various events this past weekend. Harriers of all ages were competing at the first of the Wessex Cross-country League matches, held at Canford Heath in Dorset, whilst another squad of senior runners went to the Burnham-on-Sea half marathon, Philip Bridge was 3rd at the Cheltenham half, and a few others competed at the Cardiff half Marathon or the Salisbury half Marathon. Read on also for details of the Street 5k Series starting next Wednesday, 11th October; the Harrier's autumn training groups; and of the Club's pre-Christmas Annual Dinner (especially important if you have been rejected in the ballot for a London marathon place!). Harrier teams excel at Southern Road Relays! Other teams and individuals out at Uphill to Wells (Saturday) and/or Mells Scenic 7 on Sunday

The Harriers had teams out competing at the prestigious South of England Road Relays on Sunday whilst closer to home there was off-road racing to be done at the Uphill to Wells race,on the Saturday, and the Mells Scenic 7, on the Sunday. The best effort of the weekend came from the talented u15 boys & girl squad who made the trip to the road relays, and in so doing flew the flag for Somerset and the South-west!
Elise & Chris have great weekends at multi-events or Fell running; whilst 22 Harriers excel at last Yeovilton 5k. Plus Wessex XC details and get ready for Street 5k!

Wells City Harrier members of all ages were out competing hard this past week. 16 year old Elise Thorner finished off her track season with a top quality performance in the English Schools Combined Events Championships in Boston, Lincs, over the weekend; whilst V60 Chris Kelsey gained the silver medal in the South of England Fell Running Championships on the Isle of Wight. This follows on from 22 Harriers aged 11 to 60 competing at the Yeovil 5k road race last Wednesday, led home by Pete Grist for the men and Zoe Kurle for the women, with a number gaining personal bests.

Last Sunday a number of Wells runners were out competing in the mud at the Ash races nr Martock. In the shorter 3 km Junior race Wells juniors took all top 6 places with (U15) Daniel Maydew winning in a time of 10.34. While at Chard new member Dan Cahill won the 10k Chard Chaser in a time of 36.03.
