It was a very windy day at Kings Park, Bournemouth, on Saturday for the annual South-west Schools Cross Country Championships contested by teams from across the region. The Harriers had two individual champions, Elena Sidman and Isobel Glaisher, and two runners up from the eight age group races held, with almost 30 of the juniors taking part in these prestigious school championships. Meanwhile a much depleted squad still made the great effort to go to Brecon and represent the Club at the 4th Gwent Cross Country League fixture amidst horrendous weather.

Meanwhile on the Sunday a number of senior Harriers were competing at road races.

There was some great running by all 19 of the Harriers that competed at the very tough South of England Cross Country Championships held at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath, London on Saturday (Jan 25th). The Club had two athletes that gained medals: Frank Tickner, who won last year's edition and is in fact a two-time winner of these Championships, this time had to settle for silver in the Senior men's race; Isobel Glaisher came away with bronze from the u17 womens race. Oliver Fox was just outside of the medals in 4th place in the u17 men's race.

After almost 25 years of organising the Street 5k races we are soon going to be celebrating the 150th edition. Meanwhile a good number of the Harriers, especially amongst the Wednesday group, are hard at training for a spring marathon (or even something longer); whilst an opportunity has just sprung up for Harriers to consider being part of a special trip to France for a friendly road 10k. .
