Simon and Katrina Prior are going to be running from London to Brighton on 23rd May - a full 100k - in support of Macmillan trust. This is a great cause, and we all know someone who has had help from this charity; Simon and Katrina will be running in memory of Clive Thomas, a close friend and coach at Wells City Harriers, who tragically passed away last year. Please help them to reach thier goal by visiting their Justgiving page

Oliver Fox competed for the Team GB u20s team at the Edinburgh International Cross Country race on Saturday (January 10th)and finished 14th over the 6km course which looped around Holyrood Park including a short hill climb close to Arthur's seat. Oliver was 3rd Brit home, out of 6, in a race dominated by Team USA with Team Europe also producing some good performances. There were also some terrific performances by over 40 Harriers at the South West Cross Country Championships held at Bicton College, Devon last Sunday (January 4th). Whilst one or two athletes and supporters were absent due to colds; or the competing demand of the Van Gall circus at Huish Park; the quality and endeavour of those who made the start line shouldn’t be under estimated.

There’s been some good racing performances by Wells City Harriers over the Christmas and New Year week and no doubt more to come as a large squad of Harriers are entered for Sunday’s South West Cross Country Championships at Bicton College in Devon. Top billing at the recent races goes to Philip Bridge who won at the hilly Chard Flyer 10k on New Year’s day; Jack Bancroft with his excellent 5th place finish at the mass event Clevedon Boxing day run; Jon Gilling with his 12th place at the Stoke Stampede on December 29th; and Tom Duke’s 13th place finish at the Poole round the Lakes 10k on Boxing Day also noteworthy.
