New V60 course record at February Street 5km and getting ready for Babcary race on Sunday 22nd

There was some good running at the Harrier organised Street 5km race last Wednesday. Whilst the Harrier men took a 1-2-3 and the women a 1-2, there was also a new V60 course record set by Maiden Newton’s Martin Lascelles and a host of other great personal bests.

South West Schools XC at Grittleton House & Gwent XC League at Blaise Castle

What a talented lot they are! Harrier trained juniors from either the Yeovil or Wells based training groups competed at the South West Schools Championships this past Saturday whilst another squad of Harriers were out competing the day after at the latest in the Gwent League fixtures at Blaise Castle, Bristol. Top billing goes to Oliver Fox for his SW Schools victory on the Saturday and to Nathan Young for his excellent 3rd place on the Sunday. There were a number of other good top ten finishes by Harriers on the Saturday. We also report here on some recent road and off-road performances including Clare Prosser once again winning a tough event outright.

Top Class running by Harriers at Somerset Schools XC Championship & at BUCS

There were some terrific performances by Wells City Harrier members at the Somerset Schools Cross Country Championships at Aldon Hill, Yeovil on Saturday Jan 31st; and another set of good results by Harriers who are now away at University when they competed in the British Universities & Colleges Sport XC Championships.Photos by Al Thorner from the Somerset Schools.

Great running at the South of England XC Championships by the Harriers

Matthew Dickinson struck u20 men's silver at the Southern Cross Country Championships at Stanmer Park, Brighton on Saturday (January 24th) whilst Harrier Life member Ben Tickner won the senior men's race, again, in a blanket finish; and Emily Smith was just outside the top ten in the u20 women's race.

Simon and Katrina Prior are going to be running from London to Brighton on 23rd May - a full 100k - in support of Macmillan trust.
