NEXT HARRIER SOCIAL: Curry Night is booked for Friday the 17th April at the George Inn, Croscombe.

The landlord Peter & his wife will supply a buffet 2 meat & 1 veg curry with accompaniments for approx 30 people for 7.30-8.00pm We will have use of the skittle alley. Please let us know if you are attending no later than Wed 15th. Cost to Harriers (& their partners) £7.50 for adults and £5 for juniors; including the first drink.

Final match in the Gwent League this Sunday; Going to the top of the 5k national rankings; & 19 Harriers selected for English Schools & 22 for Inter-Counties team

The final fixture in the 5 match Gwent XC league takes place this coming Sunday, March 1st at Aberdare. We switched to this League seven seasons ago and haven't looked back - it offers the best competitive fixtures for our athletes of any age. A number of the Harriers are now featuring at the top end of the national rankings for 5km distance; and there's been a whole phalanx of Harriers of all ages selected for the Somerset Schools team and Somerset County team for the competitive fixtures coming up soon.

The rain started just as the 147 runners got underway at the annual Babcary 7.5mile road race on Sunday. The race, supported and promoted by Wells City Harriers, attracted an excellent cross-section of seasoned Club runners mixed in with locals who might race just once or twice a year. Their efforts and their entry fees were much appreciated by the Babcary Playing Fields Association whose coffers are now £1500 better off.

Mud, Glorious Mud for Harriers at the English Nationals! & Matthew claims silver at the Welsh Championships

The Harriers had a mud bath to contend with at Saturday's (Feb 21st) English Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill, London. Despite conditions underfoot some of them were still smiling at the finish! Whlst Kieran Young had the best Harrier finish position, of 27th in the Junior men's race his elder brother Nathan was just outside the first 100 amongst the 2000 finishers in the senior men's race. Meanwhile at Corwen in North Wales Matthew Dickinson competed for the first time in the Welsh Cross Country Championships and ran brilliantly for a silver medal in the junior men's race.
