Wells City Harriers were once again out competing at Track and Field and road races this past weekend of June 6th and 7th. Some of the juniors were looking to establish fast times on the track at Milton Keynes to help them qualify for the prestigious English School Championships, whilst others were competing for the joint team with Yeovil Olympiads in the British Mens League fixture at Bedford, and another squad of Harriers were winning at the local Crewkerne 10k road race, whilst Deb Glover won the Poole 5k race. Summer is here at last? Maybe time for a Saturday Park Run?

Parkruns have been around for over ten years or so across the UK (and beyond) and a number of Harriers along with many others who aren't members of any Club, have been doing the Park Runs in Somerset for a while. Maybe time to try one? They are 5km timed runs (not races) which are free to enter and they start at 9.00am on a Saturday morning (every Saturday morning!) usually at a place which is great for running.

Wells City Harriers have again been in action on the track this past weekend as part of the combined team with Yeovil Olympiads. On the Saturday a small squad competed in the 2nd of the Club’s National Young Athletes League matches for u13s/u15s at Braunton, whilst on the Sunday a much larger contingent were competing at the 2nd of the South West League Division One matches (for all age groups) at the Exeter arena. Meanwhile the Glovers were out competing hard at Ninesprings and Justin Thomas is well to the fore in the latest Somerset Series rankings, but with Kieran Young indicating perfect form..
Monday Junior Track & Field Competition evening coming up again next Monday June 8th & results from last month

Harrier juniors who attend on a Monday, and their guests, are reminded that the Harrier's next competition evening is on Monday June 8th. Try to arrive by 5.50pm to collect numbers (to be pinned on the front) ready for warm up at 6pm. There will be sprints; shot; javelin; long jump; and middle distance events to choose from. Parents are invited to help the Harrier volunteer coaches to officate the event by helping to measure, record finish positions or rake the pit. Results from last month are below when fewer than usual took part as the Mendip Area Schools (year7/8 upwards) took place immediately before the Harrier session.

Harrier member, marathon runner and Ironman participant Michelle Blackmore commences her Strength & Conditioning classes suitable for athletes and triathletes from this Wednesday June 3rd 6pm-7pm in Glastonbury.
