Andy Piper and Tom Dukes both received their long-awaited Yeovilton 5k Series awards for top V50 and top V40 runners this week. Meanwhile a squad of Harriers ran well at the tough Drogo 10 on the edge of Dartmoor on Sunday; and a number of Harriers are gearing up for the final race in the Somerset Race Series at Brent Knoll on Sunday, with others going to compete at the next round of the British Challenge XC races on Saturday in Liverpool. Good Luck especially to Oliver Fox who is looking to gain selection (again) for TeamGB for the forthcoming European XC Championships.

Jon James accelerated away from the leading group on the final lap to win the November 2018 edition of the Street 5k in a time of 16.35, with fellow Wells City Harrier Zak Hurrell closest in 16.40. Whilst last years’s Queen of the Street Series, Helen Southcott’s 18.50 gained her victory for the women’s section, with Harrier Zoe Kurle next home. The incentive of gaining a bottle of local Cider/Apple juice by running 15 seconds quicker than last month proved popular! For the juniors Owen Dukes, in the 2k, again ran to victory with Michael Eames 1st in the 1k and Alice King winning for the girls (again). All results now available below.

Wells City Harrier members were out in force at the 3rd of this season's Wessex Cross Country League matches last Sunday (4th November) and there were again victories for the two Daisy's & Ben and also for Ollie at this race. Meanwhile on the same day, at the 'Gilly Hilly' road race, Philip ran to victory almost 2 minutes ahead of 2nd place. Get ready for the season's 2nd Street 5k this coming Wednesday, 14th November - all that improve their October 5k time by at least 15 seconds gain a bottle of Bullbeggar Cider or Lamyatt Apple Juice! If any Harrier who isn't running can contact Race Director Ed Tickner before the night to offer their volunteering time for the marshalling or finish line duties that would be appreciated - all Harriers or parents of juniors are expected to volunteer at least once during the season for this Club organised event.

Wells City Harriers had members out competing at some tough long distance events this past weekend. Given the change in the weather that set in, this was quite a challenge. Some members were taking part in this year’s 2 day Original Mountain Marathon (OMM) in the Black Mountains, South Wales; others at the Herepath ‘Half’ on the Blackdowns and another at the Venice Marathon, which was partly underwater! Last call also for Annual Dinner bookings and nominations for the fabled Harrier bog seat now requested.
