This past week or so has seen the Harriers with athletes competing hard at many disciplines and over different terrain when racing. 18 year old Ollie Thorner, now an Honorary Life Member of the Club, excelled himself when claiming the UK u20 bronze medal at the Bedford multi-events competition – some great performances across his 10 events. Meanwhile, Karen Shears seems to have enjoyed the Geat Wall of China, and closer to home there was some good running by Harriers at the Crewkerne 10k road race. Also, read on for the list of Harrier Annual Awards made recently.

Wells Fun Run - Bank Holiday Sunday running for all ages!

 
There was a terrific turn out for the 14th edition (*) of the Wells Fun Runs, organised by a local committee supported by Wells City Harriers. The morning started with warm sunshine but saw a drizzly interlude happen whilst the two lap 10k race was underway. Proceedings started with some enthusiastic running by the under 8s over an 800m course and finished with the 10k. All the races finished by the Bishops Palace and the Bishop of Bath & Wells blessed the 10k race with his presence.
 
Nathan Young & Joanna Carritt were victors in the 10k race whilst Bishop Peter was rewarded with a 10k personal best. Our thanks to all the sponsors, marshals, officials , and the Lord Mayor of Wells for helping make the event go so smoothly. Biggest thanks, as ever though, to Julia Dukes, Lynne Elstob and Sharon Bowles of the Harriers for coordinating everything so well. Read on for a report and link to results.

Elise into European top ten, whilst Chris conquers tough Fell Race, and others get ready for Wells Fun Runs!

Elise Thorner went into the early season European top ten rankings this past weekend (May 18th/19th) with an excellent pb at an invitational 3,000 metre steeplechase race, whilst Christian Green had a good day on the fells in Snowdonia, finishing 10th in the tough Cader Idris fell race. Read on also for a report from last Wednesday's (May 15th) Town Trail 10k race. Last call also for entries and helpers for the Wells Fun Run this coming Sunday.

Over thirty members of Wells City Harriers have competed this past weekend (May 11/12) at track and field and multi-terrain races. The major event of the weekend was the County Athletics Association's Track Championships held in Yeovil and there were some excellent performances and personal bests set by the Harriers. Mid-week was also the 2nd race this Series of the Yeovilton 5k. Looking ahead - all Harriers are reminded that the Club AGM is next Wednesday, May 22nd (8pm) at The Globe public house in Wells.

Harriers enjoy success on the track and on the road: pbs galore! Archie, Jack & Zoe win at Glastonbury.

This past weekend (May 3rd-5th) has seen almost 40 performances by Harriers at a variety of events, with 19 members competing at the various Glastonbury races on the Sunday. Archie Tyler won the 5k race whilst Jack Harvey won the 3k race, despite racing the night before on the track! Zoe Kurle won for the women whilst Tom Dukes was 3rd overall in the Round The Tor 10k race.  17 members competed at the British Milers Clubs middle distance races at Millfield on the Saturday with 11 gaining personal bests.
