Matt Lusby from local Club Street Striders ran away to victory in16.33 on Wednesday night (8th January) whilst Helen Allen (Wells City Harriers) was on good form too to win for the women in 19.29. There was a good turn out for what was edition number 184 in the 31 year sequence of Street 5k races, with a good contingent coming over from Cheddar Running Club, and some old stalwarts from Yeovil Town Road Runners making a welcome return or debut. All that made their debut, or achieved a pb this season, should have received their bottle of Bullbeggar Cider or Lamyatt Apple Juice after the race (claim it next time if you had to leave early). In the junior races Caleb Gifford-Groves had an excellent 3.37 winning time with Elsa Evans, 4.35, first for the girls, whilst Freddie Punchard had a good solid run for the 2k winning in 9.12. Juniors – please try and beat the course records at the juniors races!! Read on for more reporting and the full results!

In the Cross Country we are still awaiting final results, so report to follow. Final call for any Harrier that wishes to enter the National Cross-Country Championships – the Club will pay for your entry. Either enter direct and reclaim your entry fee or ask Paul to enter you by this Thursday to be sure of having an entry. Read on for details of some Harrier races coming up, including entry form for the Babcary Road Race, and for opportunities to join Harrier relay teams.

The Harriers have been in action in two Cross country League matches in the past few weeks. The Wessex League fixture doubled up as the Dorset XC Championships whilst the Gwent XC League saw bigger fields as it brought a huge horde of runners from across the border in Wales to compete at Blaise Castle Country Park just to the north of the built up area of Bristol. There were some great individual performances! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Keep on training over the festive period....
