Well done to those who ran at this year's Baltonsborough 5 mile Road Race; or the accompaning junior race or fun run over 1.5 miles. This year is the 25th anniversary of the race supported by Wells City Harriers. The races were suitable for all abilities.
The Races we're held on the same day as the Annual Baltonsborough Show - so enjoy the Show after the race - refreshments; stalls; fun and games for all.
Race results after Monday will also be available from that link and on the power of ten portal. A report may be posted up here from one of the Harriers.

The Harriers help a number of local communities organise their own races for good causes. In addition the Harriers have their monthly Street 5k road races between October and March every year to encourage runners to train and improve. October 2019 will see the 31st season of these monthly 5k races.They take place at 7.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month through to March 2020. First time runners at the Street5k receive an award and any that improve their time during the Series also get an award. At the end of the Series all that have completed 5 races, out of the 6, gets a Series award - come and run the races!

Jon wins Gold whilst Helen wins silver & bronze at National Championships; & Harriers run well at Haselbury plus latest on Millfield track upgrade!

Wells City Harrier Jon James won the M55 1500m Gold Medal at the British Masters Championships held this past weekend (August 10th & 11th) at Birmingham. He won convincingly, despite the strong gusts of wind, with a 7 second gap on the pack chasing him all the way from start to finish. Meanwhile Helen Southcott, at the same Championships came away with Silver and Bronze, when taking her 2nd place in the W40 800m in 2.31 (pb) after a 3rd place showing in the 1500m with 5.07. Congratulations to both! A strong squad of 14 Harriers toed the start line at the latest in the Somerset Series races, sponsored by Cornwall Glass, and we await a report on recent track & field performances from the SW League. Note that Tuesday training is now taking place across the road from the track whilst the track and surrounds are OUT of BOUNDS!

Jon James goes 2nd on national rankings whilst numerous other Harriers achieve track personal bests

There’s been some great running on the track this past week with a squad of Harriers travelling to the ‘Night of fast 5000’s’ on Saturday 27th where Jon James confirmed his national 2nd place ranking for V55s with a nippy time and the others all put in a decent showing too, with most gaining personal bests. Then on Tuesday 30th some personal bests were recorded by Leo, Charlie & Owen at the BMC meet at Exeter. Wells City Harrier members, including committee members, were out competing at the latest round of the Somerset Race Series on a recent Wednesday evening (17th July) when they were among 150 runners at the Pawlett Plod 10k multi terrain race which featured a lengthy stretch running along the bank of the River Parrett. Deputy Chairman Christian Green won the race whilst Wednesday rep Andy Piper was 1st V50. In other races, Club Treasurer Sharon Bowles successfully completed a tough 100km race across the South Downs whilst Club Secretary Paul Chadwick made a return to the Snowdon Fell Race and had his usual rapid descent to gain numerous places.

- Harriers in action at latest Somerset Series race and as part of combined Track & Field teams with Yeovil Olympiads
