The first of the new season’s races is at 7.30 on Wednesday 14th October.
This request is firstly of course to encourage all members to consider entering the races - and to encourage others to do likewise!
Secondly however, and very importantly, we do require a good turn-out of marshals to mark the course and to help at the start/finish area.
And finally, we would be most grateful to anyone with First Aid training to put themselves forward- ideally as a regular attendee, alternatively as someone who could be called upon to assist when needed.
Marshals need simply to turn up on the night at about 7pm at the United Reform Church Hall on the High Street and make themselves known to Ian Eddy or
Anyone who is prepared to help with First Aid – please contact
Many thanks and enjoy the Series!

There was another busy weekend of racing for Wells Citty Harriers at various events this weekend (Oct 3rd/4th). Following great running at the Southern Road Relays a few weeks back, two of the junior teams were entered for the English Road Relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham, and neither disappointed with some excellent times on the undulating circuit. Meanwhile the 17th race in the year long Somerset Race Series, sponsored by Yeovil Glass, was held at Burnham with 4 Harriers toeing the start line and another two Harriers were competing at the Bournemouth marathon or half-marathon.

My name is Torquil and I work at DEKA in Bath. We're a trail running, cycling and coffee shop on Henry street and we're having a trail running film festival on the 8th of October.
I thought I'd let you know as it could be a great opportunity for your club to have a relaxed, running themed social in Bath. As well as a movie screening in the evening there will also be lunchtime and evening runs, a demo day at the shop where you can try on shoes and other trail running kit and hopefully some time for coffee too! It'll be a really fun day!
Trails In Motion is an annual international film tour that brings a collection of the finest trail and ultra running films to passionate audiences around the world. Everyone is welcome and you can find more information at our facebook event page (link below).

Wells City Harriers first competed in the Southern Fell Running Championships back in 1995 and keeping the run going this year were two of the Club's veterans: Paul Chadwick, back for his 18th Championship appearance and Rex Whitcombe in his 4th. There were a total of 218 competitors drawn from across the Southern region and beyond competing on the Isle of Wight. Whilst there were no medals coming back to Somerset this year, both acquitted themselves well given current levels of fitness and training. Meanwhile Kieran Young won the latest of the Somerset Series races at Mells just to further confirm his superiority and dominance of the Series overall. (Photo shows First Race start at Ventnor)
