Wells City Harriers helped set up the Mendip area junior schools XC League over 20 years ago - see the Club History in 'About Wells City Harriers' tab.
We have also instigated and sponsored the Secondary Schools League over the autumn and winter. This is organised by John Etherington of Millfield Prep. The 2013/14 season sees 5 fixtures in total although everyone should watch out for inclement weather as that might mean a fixture being postponed or cancelled. The two final fixtures this season are on
- Feb 27th at Danesfield School (Williton) starting at 4.15pm
- March 13th at Millfield Prep School, Glastonbury starting at 4.30pm
If we get notice of cancellation we will of course post it up on the Harrier website, but your school should know if that is the case.
There are always a good number of Harrier trained athetes in the League fixture running hard for their school and we will applaud your efforts at training sessions, but we congratulate all competitors on their efforts. We hope that the races set you up for the rest of the XC season.
Well done to all of the competing schools and especially to those that organise and host fixtures.

Headlines were made by two Harriers who won their races, whilst three others were 2nd in their respective races, and a further ten secured top ten finishes. That’s a good tally from the 56 Harriers of all ages competing at the University of Bath venue on Sunday Nov 14th. We will have some great team positions to be confirmed when all results are computed and may turn out to be top overall team on the day out of the 40+ Clubs that contest this tough Cross-country League.

Due to busy racing schedule some of our top athletes had to give this one a miss, but 4 of our seniors made the journey to Mansfield. Due to 3 hours of heavy rain by the time the seniors race the 5k course was very churned up a bit of mud surfing down the hills.

Leg 2 Eliot Haines
