We have been running our monthly junior track night competitions for the past 8 years or so. These are for ages 8 to 16. We sometimes arrange a friendly fixture against another Club but on the whole it is juniors from the local area coming to join our regular Monday training group who take part.We aim to offer them a choice of events and they have to choose at least 3 or at most 4 to complete in the time available.
We properly measure and record their performances so they can see how they arte improving during teh season: we are dependent on volunteers from amongst the parents to help officate and mesaure distances etc..
Of course these events also ensure that the juniors get used to how busy it can be at the track in that they have to be prepared to move from event to event according to the timetable; they get used to what they need to wear for competition; they realise that they need to warm up for their specific events; etc etc. This prepares them for junior school competition or for Competition with the Club (from age 11).
Unless helping in-field as an official, parents should stay outside of the track.
The dates for competition evenings in 2014 weill be posted up on the calendar. Parents should sign in on the volunteer sheet to show when they are helping and at what event. Invite a friend! £2 entry for Harriers, £3 for guests.
STAR:TRACK, TWO DAYS of Running, Jumping & Throwing for age 8-15. will be held in the summer holidays - dates to be decided. This will take place at Millfield 9.45am to 3.15pm.Please contact

Wells Fun Run - Sunday 29 May 2011
Wells Town Hall was once again the venue for the start of the seventh Wells Fun Run held on the bank holiday Sunday morning. Organisers, supporters, spectators, and over 500 runners, coming from far and wide, gradually spilled into the sleepy market square under an overcast sky, transforming it into a hive of intense purpose and activity.
