There were some sparkling performances by Wells City Harriers this past Bank Holiday weekend on the track and on the road. 30 Harriers were competing at the Somerset County Track & Field Championships held at the Yeovil Arena, whilst a further 30 or so were out competing on the road at the Wells Fun Run and one of the Club’s senior TeamGB athletes took on Mo Farah at the London 10k race.

There were over 60 Harrier juniors out competing at last month's Monday eve competition night. Well done to all & many thanks to the volunteers who helped record all the performances.Next one is on Monday May 20th at 5.50-7.30. Parents & senior Harriers again invited to help.
Clean sweep for Harriers at Glastonbury Fun Runs ....and now for the Wells Fun Run

Well over 60 Harriers were out competing this past weekend (May 4th-6th) at a host of events covering both road races and track and field. There were well over 30 competing at the local fun runs at Glastonbury, with a handful at the bigger Bristol 10k race and another squad at the North Dorset Marathon. On the track, Harrier athletes travelled to Guildford for the Southern Men’s League and to Bath for the Youth Development League, as well as competing closer to home at Millfield track on the Monday for the prestigious British Milers Club middle distance meeting.

Junior Track & Field competition hotting up: Thorner top of the class!

Six of the Wells City Harrier juniors were out competing at the Somerset Schools multi-events at the weekend (April 28th) with Ollie Thorner winning the Year 7 boys Quadrathon covering the 100m, shot put, long jump and 800m events. Harriers training on a Monday also had their first competition evening of the season on the 29th with some good marks recorded by the development squads (School Years 6 to 12) and the junior fun athletics group (Years 3 to 5). All juniors aged 11 and over, and seniors, are reminded to enter the County Championships by the closing date of May 10th (See below)
