Harriers of all ages have been busy competing these past few weeks. For many it has been the start of the Track season with times set at the Yeovil Spring Open which was once again well organised by our partner Club, Yeovil Olympiads. Our thanks to all the volunteers and officials that made the meeting work so well, especially appreciated by those new to the sports for whom this would have been their first taste of a competitive Track & Field meeting. The trio above all had great runs in the 800m on Saturday morning! Read on for times by all the Harriers that I could spot taking part….
Elsewhere the road and multi-terrain races continue apace and we’ve had Harriers out competing, and in some instances winning, recently. The hilly Penselwood 10k race saw v40 Chris Walker win the race (again) and be presented with a very impressive Trophy (which has a long history), whilst the women’s race was won by one of our former Monday juniors. Jess Pate, who came all the way from Edinburgh to be presented with an almost equally impressive trophy. Then on Easter Monday, we again had 2 winners when Kim & Chris Clark picked up their age category prizes for their Bunny Hop 7.5 mile multi-terrain runs.

Harriers have been out competing at various distances this past few weeks - with half-marathons in particular featuring as the traditional build up to a Spring Marathon.Others have finished off their Cross-country season or finished their indoor T&F season and are now moving to the outdoor season.
The Harrier supported Butleigh race over 10k attracted a good field and raised good money for the local community facilities, with Matt & Harriet taking the plaudits for the Harriers with their 1st overall and 2nd woman awards. Meanwhile we catch up with a few of our Hon life Members competing out in the USA; advise on some competition opportunities coming up; promote the forthcoming Harrier AGM where we are looking to recruit new committee members; and advise about the new Membership year - watch out for the e-mail in your inbox asking you to pay your annual fee; and an update on the ballot for London Marathon places.
