Wells City Harriers

"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

 

The Baltonsborough races took place on Monday as part of the Bank Holiday weekend show, with fine sunny weather.  Almost 90 runners took part in the slightly undulating 5 mile course around the surrounding quiet lanes with the start and finish from the village school.There were two junior/fun runs too.

Also featured was a 1.5 mile junior race in which the younger WCH members featured strongly. Oliver Dickinson won from 2nd place Joseph Davies, and Niall Caley was 3rd.  In the junior females race Elena Sidman was 1st and Megan Rusca was 2nd.

 

The main race saw a convincing win for Wells Harrier Matthew Dickinson who stormed round the 5 miles in 26.49 almost a minute clear of club rival Keiran Young in 2nd position; with Ben Miller of Mendip AC 3rd.

 

In the ladies race, Linda Lascelles of Maiden Newton won in a time of 31.37, Niki Morgan from Chepstow Harrier 2nd, Georgie Starkie from Team Bath 3rd.

 

The veteran runners produced some excellent times with Wells Harrier V50 Steve Masters high in the finishing order to clock an impressive sub 30min time ahead of V40 leader Keith Penny of Frome and V60 Keith Robinson also of Frome AC.

 

Wells vet ladies took the FV 35 and FV45 honours with Katrina Prior and Carol Buckland finishing in 35.43 and 35.10 respectively.
