On Friday 16th September, 5 Wells Harriers braved the trip to Newcastle for the Great North Run: VIctoria Prior, Luke Prior, Matthew Dickinson, Simon Prior and Katrina Prior (cheerleader).

On the Saturday Victoria, Luke and Matthew ran the Junior Great North Run.

1st up was Matthew aged 15 in the u17 race, Matthew ran a great race to stay with leading pack to finish 5th in 13.18 and will have another year in this age group. Luke was in the u15 race again being a year younger and ran a great race to finish in 11th in 14.32 with a strong finish. Victoria in the u11 race felt scared because of the amount of kids on the start line but also ran a great race to finish 12th in 18.38.

On the Sunday, Simon lined up with the other 54,000. After about half a mile he was able to get in to a decent rhythm, every thing was going to plan till 10 mile when the wheels started to fall of, Simon managed to hang in and manage a token sprint finish to come 285th in a time of 1hr 25.41.

The whole weekend was great, the crowds are fantastic, the Geordies love this race, I would recommend this race to anyone.
