There was another of the great nights of track running on Monday evening (May 5th) at Millfield when a bumper entry of athletes took part in the British Milers Club annual Academy races over the classic middle distances of 800m & 1500m, and the 3,000m. Over 30 Harriers and team-mates from the Yeovil Olympiads raced and some 17 or so of them recorded personal bests despite blustery weather with heavy downpours at times. it's difficult to pick out the star performer because there were so many.

 

In the 800m races there were the following performances:

James Bridge (u17) 2.04  Seasons best so far

Josh Thorne (u15) 2.16  just outside his best of 2.14 which he recorded last Saturday (May 3rd) at Yate

Ollie Thorner (u15) 2.20 pb

Amy D'Arcy (u17) 2.25 Seasons best

Lucy Baldwin (u17) 2.25

Ben Hoskings (u13) 2.41 pb

Innes Davidson (u13) 2.41 pb

Abbie White (u13) 2.50

Jodie Mitchell (u15) 2.51 just 1 second outside her pb

 

In the 1500m races:

Sam Sommerville (u17) 4.04 pb - 4 seconds off his previous best and takes him to 5th currently on UK rankings for u17s

Max Travers (u20) 4.22 pb

Felix Rusby (u17) 4.24 pb

Michael Biss (u15) 4.33 pb huge improvement

Isobel Glaisher (u17) 4.37 pb

Bradley Seager (u15) 4.48 pb

Dylan Dukes (u15) 4.48 pb - just a day after his race at the Glastonbury 3k

Emily Smith (u20) 4.50 season's best

Ella Sykes (u15) 4.50 pb - Ella trains with us on Mondays

Lilly Hawkins (u20) 4.51 season's best

Elena Sidman (u13) 4.59 pb and takes her to 3rd on current UK rankings for 2014

Caitlin Carnegie (u15) 5.02 pb

Harriet Fox (u15) 5.05 pb by 12 seconds

Elise Thorner (u15) 5.08 just 1 second off her pb that she set at Yate on Saturday

 

in the 3000m races:

Oliver Fox (u20) 8.54 season's best so far

Luke Prior (u17) 9.17 pb by 9 seconds and takes him to 13th on current UK rankings for u17s

Tom Dukes (v35) 9.47 pb and achieved a day after his 3rd place finish at Glastonbury 10k

Paul Allen (SM) 9.51 season's best

Oliver Dickinson (u15) 10.03 pb achieved despite missing huge amount of his winter training & will go to 15th on UK rankings

 

Thanks must go to all the great pace-makers at these races especially to Harriers Nathan and Kieran Young who followed up their 1-2 finish at the Glastonbury 10k race from the day before with some 'spot on' reps!

Many of these athletes will be out competing for the Club this coming weekend (May 11th/12th): British Mens League (Saturday) or South West Athletics League Div 1 on Sunday (both at Yeovil) or the following weekend at the Somerset County Championships (May 18th/19th) or the Southern Mens League. All details on Harrier calendar or at the Yeovil Olympiad website where details of team managers for the various age groups and Leagues can be found.
