Wells City Harriers

"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

There were 79 competitors in the 6th and final 5k race of the season at Street on the evening of Wednesday March 14th. The race was No. 138 in a sequence going back 23 years, and we were able to re-crown or crown the King & Queen of Street at the Series presentations held immediately afterwards. There was also some great running by juniors in the 1k and 2k races.

Race results for March appear in the panel to the immediate right of this article.

On the night  Miles Burton of Team Bath took the honours. The 15 year old completed the 5 lap course in a great 15.56 which is a shade slower than his best of 15.47, but augurs well for when he gets back to the Yeovilton course. Miles was ranked 2nd nationally for his 5k time in 2011. Kieran Young took 2nd place, just 11 seconds down on Miles, and had his older brother Nathan for company with both recording the same time. For the women, junior Emily Smith won on the evening with her steady 19.16, with 1st F45 Lnda Lascelles on her shoulder through the line. 3rd in on the night was Lucy Baldwin.

In the Series, the best 5 results out of 6 races were taken into account and the King of Street once again (2nd year running!) was Kieran Young, whilst Emily Smith moved up from last year's 3rd place to be crowned Queen of Street.
