South West Vets XC Championships

The day after the South of England Cross-country Championships, three Harriers competed in the South West Veterans XC Championships, at the cliff-top course at Sidmouth on Saturday January 29th. Over 8,000m the race was held on dry, but soft, terrain. First home for the Harrier’s in the men’s race was Dickie Wythe, just about recovered from the previous day’s outing, in a fantastic 7th overall position, to claim the silver medal for the V45 category. Not too far behind in 13 place, but also claiming silver, this time in the M55 category was Stuart Marsh who was 3 seconds off the gold that was won by former Harrier Bob Chapman, now resident in Devon. In the women’s race over 6000m, Kaye Franklin returned to winning ways to gain silver medal for F60 with her overall 21st placing.
