Haselbury Trail Race report        Aug 4th 2010

At the mid-week Haselbury Trail race over 10k held near North Perrot one of the Club’s top women runners, Jenny Moore, won the multi-terrain race in 44.06, some 90 seconds clear of the next woman home. This was jenny’s 2nd victory in four days following on from her success at the Sturminster Half..

This victory leaves Jenny with 3 points from 3 races, a perfect winning sequence, in the Somerset race series which she has won for the past 4 years.  Next in at Haselbury was Paul Chadwick in 48.11 and then Simon Carr in 53.14, Paul now lies in 2nd place overall in the Series standings but he expects to be overhauled as the summer gives way to autumn. James Hardy is 4th overall and Kay Franklin leads the way for the F65 category in the Series.

Kay is also the chief organiser of the Baltonsborough 5 mile road race and junior fun run to be held on Monday August 30th and reminds those Harriers not racing to offer to help on the day with the race starting at 11.00am. Entry forms for this race, the Cranmore Challenge and the Shepton Mallet 10k are all on the Club website along with the Club’s own Street 5k Series due to start in October. All the races, as usual, have runs for juniors to test their speed and fitness as well as for adults inspired by recent athletic events on TV. See www.wellscityharriers.org.uk for details.
