Harriers win medals at the
Well over 20 Harriers
competed at the
There were 5 Medallists from
amongst the Harrier’s Monday juniors group competing as part of the combined
team with Yeovil Olympiads. For the u’13 girls, Roo Black achieved gold at her
favourite event, the high jump with an excellent 1.30m jump. Roo was also 5th
in the long jump with 3.59m and ran 31.69 to get through to the 200m final.
Emily Smith won the bronze in the 800m with a
pb of 2.45 and also contested well at the 70m hurdles and long jump, where she
went out to 3.31m. Vera Assis came away with a bronze from the 1500m where she
ran 5.43 and was also 5th in the High Jump & ran well in the 70m
hurdles. Roo, Vera and Emily are all at the lower end of this year group.
Medalling for the u’13 boys,
Will Norris won silver in the 800m with his 2.34 and was also 4th in
the long jump with 3.82m, within a
whisker of another medal. Tristan Goldsmid ran a well judged race for bronze in
the 1500m slicing many seconds off his personal best with the time of 5.08.
Pick of the other Harrier
u’13 junior girls were Anne Butler 8th in the long jump with 3.31m
and a nippy 15.87 for the 100m, and Elisabete Assis in the long jump, 100m, the
1500m where she achieved her best position of 7th. For the boys, we

In the u’15 age group there
was a host of good performances including that by Leah Bowhay and Tom Singer in
the 100m races where both finished in 7th place in their respective
races. Leah’s time was 14.64 and Tom’s best time, achieved in the heat, was a
nippy 13.72. Kimberley Bartlett also finished 7th in the Javelin with
a throw of 14.03m in what was only the second competitive outing at this event.
Callum Batten went one better with 6th in the 1500m, 5.26, following
on from an 8th in the 80m hurdles final.
In the u’17 age group Laura
Parker ran 2.18 here for the 800m, and this followed up a great run at the
previous Monday’s BMC meet at Millfield where she re-wrote the club records
with her 4.43 for the 1500m.In the u’20 category, Olivia Steward won gold in
the long jump and silver in the triple jump, whilst Adrian Marriott ran away
with the senior men’s 3000m race pursued by team-mates Dickie Wythe and
