Four go well at Downton Half Marathon

November 30th 2008

The main alternative to the Brent Knoll race on Sunday was the Downton half marathon road race on the edge of the New Forest. 300 toed the start line and 4 Harriers were amongst them.

First home for the Harriers was Jason Tuck , the new seniors kit manager, who set out with his race plan of steady pacing to finish in 90 minutes, and he hit it almost to the second. His target is the North Dorset Marathon next May in sub-3 and he’s been upping the miles and the quality over the past 3 months as part of his training. He finished 25th here in 90.04.

Next home was Martin Bailey with a good 1.35 clocking fro 49th, followed closely by John Russell in 1.39 for 79th and Andrew Pate in 1.44 for 122nd. Andrew went out a bit quick and paid the price in the last 3 miles. Andrew & Jason will be racing again at the XC on Saturday.
