Blackmore Vale Half

Feb 1st 2009

There were seven Harriers at the Blackmore Vale Half marathon in Dorset. The course utilises small rural lanes and takes in a few hills, with the last couple of miles having a steady climb up to the finish. The team were led home by Tristan Cooper, from our partner club Yeovil Olympiads, who finished 4th over the 13.1 mile road course in a time of 75.15, just over a minute behind the winner. Also in 4th place, this time in the women’s section was Jenny Moore who ran 89.19 here.

Jason Tuck finished in 95.04 for 115th place overall in his preparations for a spring marathon, and next home was Rod Appleby, coming back from a virus, with his 1.45 clocking, just ahead of John Reynolds and Andrew Pate, both in 1.46. Alice Knight then came storming home in 1.52 to complete the Harrier’s contingent. John was using the race as part of his build up for the 110-mile continuous running challenge that he is undertaking at the end of April to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice. See the Harrier website if you can offer help to John with this ultra-effort on April 28th/29th 2009.
