Dorset Three Peaks - also known as ‘The Stickler’

Sunday October 26th

Compared to elsewhere in the UK at the weekend, better weather and conditions greeted the 4 Harriers that competed at the Dorset Three Peaks Challenge, also known as ‘the Stickler’ on Sunday. The race over 10.1 miles takes the runners on a total 1500 foot of climb to the tops of Hambledon Hill, Hod Hill and Okeford Hill. Race start and finish is at Shillingstone with the final 400m on the old railway line onto the former station platform.

In a field of close on 400 runners first home for the Harriers was Fergus Pate in an excellent time of 77.23 in 45th place. Fergus had gone out hard in the first few miles before being caught by Dickie Wythe but then left Dickie to ease up as he ran for home. Dickie was next in 79.05, then Paul Chadwick in 83.38 and Andrew Pate, Fergus’s dad, in 91.30. We hope that Fergus will be racing with us at the next few XC events
