Mendip Muddle
Wells City Harriers were well represented at last weekend’s Mendip Muddle a 20 km multi-terrain race routed around the stunning scenery of the local Mendips. Excellent sunny conditions greeted the huge field off almost 300 runners who geared up to take on some gruelling climbs including Beacon Batch the highest peak, with 420m ascent, boggy and stony ground conditions throughout, the warm day also took its toil on many competitors.
20 harriers completed the course with Andrew Deamer taking a superb second place, after mastering the difficult terrain in a time of 1:27:33, he was also the first V40 home, behind overall winner R.Phillips of Serpentine RC. Deamer was well clear of the chasing masses with Ben Kelsey in 23rd place clocking 1:40:53.
Jenny Moore 1:43:23 headed the Wells ladies finishers placed 4th and 2nd female veteran, with Laurie Phippard in good form as 6th female just over a minute adrift of Moore. Pat Challis 2nd placed V 60.
