Anna Lewis wins at Yeovilton 5km       April 9th 2008

 

Last Wednesday on a fine April evening 12 Wells City Harriers lined up in a large field of 103 runners for the first race in this year’s Yeovilton 5k Summer Series.

 

First home for Wells in 8th place and showing little sign of fatigue despite having competed in the Wells team at the Southern Road relays on Sunday was Mathew Lewis in a time of 17.30. He was closely followed by James Hardy who finished 10th in 17.45.

 

Another member of the club road relay team ,Dave Stanfield, was 14th in 18.04 just beating Anna Lewis who was 15th & first female overall in an excellent time of 18.19.

 

Other Wells finishers were Graham Goldsmid 24th in 18.49 whilst ever improving Junior, Cameron Rafferty, was 29th in 19.14.Then came Bob Martin, back from Australia, 45th & first Vet 60 in a time of 19.49. He was followed by Gary Tubridy just coming back from injury in 50th place in 20.07

Ever improving Mike Scadding was 57th in 20.32 with Clive Gibbons not far behind in 73rd in 22.02, and Carol Buckland 82nd in 22.34 just ahead of Becky Lee 83rd in 22.43.
