Team GB and Wells City Harriers Ben Tickner & Adrian Marriott had a great sequence of results from the 5-stage races held on Bornholm island in Denmark. They finished 3rd and 10th respectively in the field of over 1000 competitors.
The 5 stage races are held on consecutive days over different terrains and attract all the top Scandinavian runners and athletes from across Europe and further afield. Ben & Adrian travelled out with Clive Thomas and were hosted by Club Life Member Tony Linford. The races make full use of the variable terrain and the superb beaches.
Ben steadily got stronger across the Series after an enforced pit stop in the first race meant he finished in 4th place which proved to be his worst performance of the tough sequence. Ben won two of the races outright but couldn't claw back enough time on the overall winner to achieve anything more than 3rd after the 5 races. Adrian ran consistently well too and was also stronger in the final three events compared to the first two outings.
Ben's sequence of results were 4th, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 1st
Adrian's were 11th, 12th, 8th, 10th, 9th
