Post race at the June Yeovilton 5K
Wells City Harriers enjoyed another outstanding week of competition, highlighted by Elise Thorner’s superb second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase at the Stockholm Diamond League, where the GB international clocked 9:11.01, her second-fastest time ever. Closer to home, club athletes delivered a host of impressive performances across road, trail and track events, including Adam Gibson’s victory and personal best at the Yeovilton 5K, Tom Addison-Wood’s win at the Neroche 10K, and a series of strong results at the South West Athletics League.

Elise Thorner in action
Elise Thorner returned to Scandinavia on Sunday 7th June for her 3rd Wanda Diamond League appearance at the Stockholm Bauhaus Games in Sweden. The 25 year old Wells City Harrier's GB International lined up for her specialised event, the 3000m steeplechase against a star studded field of athletes from three continents. Competing in her second outdoor race of the season, following a sensational win in a personal best time of 9 mins 07.39 seconds two weeks previously in Los Angeles, Thorner sat back off a world record pace set by the eventual winner Marwa Bouzayani, which paid dividends for the Manchester based, New Balance sponsored athlete as she worked her way through the field finishing in second place in her second fastest ever time of 9 mins 11.01 seconds. Next up is the UK Championships in Birmingham on Saturday 27th June where she will line up ranked as the UK No1 and 6th in the world seeking to defend her national title from 12 months ago.
Yeovilton 5K (Race 3)

Heath Worledge Oliver Willmott racing until the end
Near-perfect conditions greeted runners for the halfway point of the Yeovilton 5K Series. Before the race began, runners observed a minute’s silence in memory of the three Royal Navy personnel who lost their lives in a helicopter crash during a training exercise in Devon. All three were based at RNAS Yeovilton, the Royal Naval Air Station through which the race route passes by.
There were plenty of standout performances and personal bests throughout the evening. Leading the way was Adam Gibson, who stormed to victory in a superb new PB of 15:22. Jamie Williams also produced an outstanding run, taking third place overall and first male junior with a huge PB of 15:33.
It was also great to see Tuesday coach Ben Tickner back racing on the roads after a six-year absence, and he marked his return in style by finishing fifth overall and first MV40. Victoria Ryan continued her excellent form, securing a new PB and claiming first place in the FV45 category. There were also many other PBs on the evening - well done if you managed to get one!

Oke Croak

Oli and Zoe, with her winnings
Oli and Zoe Frost took part in the Oke Croak fell races on Dartmoor at the weekend. This was Zoe's first proper fell race. In her race of 4.5k, she came first girl and second overall in a time of 28 minutes 7 seconds. Oli ran the self nav 10 mile senior race and, after momentarily misplacing the route....... came in 18th with a time of 1 hour 43 minutes 11seconds. A really fun hard race with spectacular scenery.
Neroche 10K

New to the Series for 2026, the Neroche 10k is an undulating multi terrain race supporting the local school.

Bath Two Tunnels
