Well done to those who ran at this year's Baltonsborough 5 mile Road Race; or the accompaning junior race or fun run over 1.5 miles. This year is the 25th anniversary of the race supported by Wells City Harriers. The races were suitable for all abilities.

The Races we're held on the same day as the Annual Baltonsborough Show - so enjoy the Show after the race - refreshments; stalls; fun and games for all.

Race results after Monday will also be available from that link and on the power of ten portal. A report may be posted up here from one of the Harriers.

The Harriers help a number of local communities organise their own races for good causes. In addition the Harriers have their monthly Street 5k road races between October and March every year to encourage runners to train and improve. October 2019 will see the 31st season of these monthly 5k races. They take place at 7.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month through to March 2020. First time runners at the Street5k receive an award and any that improve their time during the Series also get an award. At the end of the Series all that have completed 5 races, out of the 6, gets a Series award - come and run the races!

The certified 1 mile route (Course Certificate tbc) is an out and back ‘P’ shaped course on a flat tarmac surface, allowing for fast times. Runners will be set off in groups of approximately 10.

This event is designed to give all runners a chance to win. Before you start you must provide a predicted finishing time. There will be a prize for the male and female that fi nishes closest to their predicted finishing time. This encourages you to set a challenging yet personally obtainable target.

However, this is a watch and phone free event. This is the ‘naked’ in ‘Naked Mile’!

Geoff Cole, our partner YOAC Chairman reports:

“Entries are now open for the Yeovil 'Anniversary' Games, our end of season open meet on Sunday 8th September. We would be most grateful if you could promote this on your website and to WCH members. We have our usual clash with the Ash races unfortunately but hopefully there will be some interest from Wells athletes and especially the juniors who don't do the longer distance road/XC races.

As this is our 50th Anniversary we have some special prize events planned including a mile race. A rare opportunity for athletes to race over the mile distance on the track and we would love to see lots of WCH athletes there! We are also having a Quadkids competition again for U11s as well as mixed 4x400m relays and other special events plus a full programme of track and field. More details at our website...

We are using the EA entry portal this year so if you could share the link for people to enter here...
