WCH 5K/junior races Winter series

The first 5km race out of the 6 race series organised by Wells City Harriers kicked off in grand style last Wednesday evening with a strong turn out of junior runners.

The 1k and 2 k race results; Grace Light 4:21, Gareth James 4:28, George Biss 4:29, Brion Keeble 4:50. 2k Alex Williams 8:04, Luce Baldwin 8:07, Ellie Mason 8:53.

The 5k race clear winner was Nathan Young of Bristol AC clocking 16:29, ahead of Wells Robert Dennes 2nd 16:58, with leading male junior Kieran Young Bristol AC 3rd in 17.07, another Wells junior Sam Bedford was 4th. The leading female Annabelle Grady from Rotherham AC finished in 18:22, and Emily Smith 1st Junior female in 20th position overall ran an excellent 19:12.Marion Coleman took the V55 honours.

The previous Sunday the Burnham half Marathon took place and in amongst the the runners were several harriers testing themselves around the flat 13.1 miles, 13th place went to Simon Prior, whilst Club Chairman Paul Chadwick in 51st place clocked a solid 1:36:14 and Simon Carr finished in 140th place in a time of 1:48:11.
