Women sweep the prizes at Hestercombe!
Hestercombe Humdinger and Hurtle Sunday
Feb 21st
There was some good running
this past Sunday at the hilly Hestercombe Humdinger where the first woman home
was Harrier Jenny Moore, in a shade over
64 mins for the 9.5 mile course. Jenny had solid backing by Carol Buckland, Pat Challis and Jenny Adams
to secure the first women’s team prize. Jenny was 18th overall;
Carol 141st in 80mins; Pat 230th in 90 mins; and Jenny
310th in 117mins.
Not to be outdone, in the
accompanying Hestercombe Hurtle over 5km Hayley
Carver, aged 14, was an excellent 2nd female home in the race.
That’s great.
Also turning out were two of
the men – Nicky Edwards despite a
long lay off was back racing and finished the course in 174th for 84
mins, and Paul Chadwick was out
racing again for 63rd place in 72 mins.
The Humdinger was the first
of this year’s Somerset Race Series. The 2nd race is this Sunday’s
(Feb 28th) 7.5 mile road race at Babcary, and the printed leaflet
with all the 16 fixtures for the year should be available at that race.
