There was also another large group of Harrier juniors out competing at the first of the South West League Division One fixtures at the Yeovil Arena. A whole host of u’13 girls made their debut for the team and competed well. Roo Black, Emily Smith, and Vera Assis all jumped well in the high jump to record 1.25m, 1.20m and 1.25m respectively. Roo went on to run an excellent 32.5 for the 200m with Vera just behind in 33.3. Emily also competed in the 100m sprint in a good time of 15.7, whilst Naomi Marable ran a good race in 16.3 over the same distance despite being at the younger end of the age group. Elisabet Assis also competed well at different events including the shot. Highlight for the Harrier boys was probably the excellent sprint victory by Tom Singer in the 100m in the u’15 age group where he finished a clear 2m ahead of the opposition.
