Crook Peak Cake Race
2007 – Weds 22nd August
If you haven’t done this race, you’ve missed a fairly special treat. It is only 3 miles, but the scenery is spectacular, and the 1.5 mile jog to the start gets you in the mood. The atmosphere is always great, with an invasion of the pub at the end. This year the weather was beautiful, but not too sultry, and conditions underfoot were excellent. Several of us were still footsore after the West Mendip Way Super Challenge the previous Sunday. There were 83 finishers (only 81 recorded, but Jude Baynes beat 4 people, not 2!)
Results for WCH were:
Laurie Phippard: 25.00, 23rd, 1st Lady, so got the cake.
Nick Edwards: 26.43, 38th,
Bob Powell: 26.52, 39th, (PB by 4 secs!)
Martin Collins: 28.00, 52nd,
Helen Kelsey: 32.30, 72nd,
Judy Baynes: 36.20, 79th.
Also present were several Hashers who have represented WCH at Cotswold Way and other events, so are worthy of noble mention.
Christine Reynolds: 27.03, 42nd, 3rd Lady,
Colin Welch: 29.53, 63rd,
Liz Green: 30.06, 65th, 1st Lady V60,
Nick Ajderian: 33.03, 75th.
