Shepton Mallet Fun Run 2009

A combination of distances and ages saw many Harriers involved with the Shepton races last weekend with a number competing and many assisting with the organisation of the three races a 10km, 5km, and 1km fun run for juniors.

It was the juniors who got proceeding underway with an energetic two laps of the playing fields outright winner was Mark Bailet of Mendip AC with Abbie Gibbons of Wells City Harriers leading junior female out of some 64 finishers.

The 10km and 5km races were to follow with combined starts, Nathan Young from Bristol and West blazed a winning trail in the 10km clocking 34:24, ahead of a field of 115 runners, which included several harriers picking veteran awards, Graham Goldsmid 3rd V40, Ken Durham 2nd V60, Mary Harrington 1st VF45 and Jacqueline Rusca 3rd VF45.

The 5 km race winner was Harrier Cameron Rafferty clocking 18:39, other awards went to Gary Sheridan 1st V40, Stuart Marsh 1st V50.
