Race Report Full Monty
This year’s Full Monty was a pleasure to run in. Ok it was unbelievably
muddy and ok the hills are not any smaller and yes it’s the longest 10 miles in
the world but hey. The sun was shining, the skies were blue and the views were
fabulous. Added to which Wells City Harriers had a spectacular day. Claire
Prosser, the blond bombshell, was the first lady home in a time of 1:30 and
17th overall in the race, fantastic, will nothing stop this woman?. Fergus Pate
did even better with a time of 1:25 and was 7th overall. Dave
Bronstow was 23 with a time of 1:32 and the 3rd Wells City Harrier home.
Chris Burton of Yeovil Town was the overall winner of the race in a time of
1:14 which is just ridiculously fast!!
New boy Ian Biggs came in scorching home in a time of 1:40 with Andrew
Pate just 5 minutes behind him. Ian Carpenter was 82nd in a time of 1:46
despite having the handicap of a newly grown beard. Alice Knight did a very
respectable time of 1:54, with Alistair Bell 5 minutes behind her. Simon Jones
just pipped Carol Buckland to finish just outside the 2hour mark with Pat
Challis steaming home shortly afterwards. Wells had 11runners out of a field of
237 and a fun muddy time was had by all! I cant wait to eat the Christmas
Pudding all the runners were given for finishing and reflect back on one of the
best off road events of the running calendar.
