Yeovil 5k Race and junior races September 2009
On the road there were
another set of good performances by the seniors competing at the final Yeovil
5km of the season. Jack Bancroft ran
a nippy 15.58 for 2nd place in the main race. In the accompanying
junior 1.2km race 11 year old Luke Prior
won the final race of the series and with it the overall junior award.
Jack was one of 23 Harriers
in the main race, with other notable runs by Matthew Lewis finishing in overall 5th place with his
time of 17.02, Nicky Morgan and Jenny Moore finishing as 2nd and 3rd women
home in 18.12, and Geoff Cole and James Todd being amongst a number that
secured personal bests for the 5k distance.

In the junior races held on
the field adjacent to the 5km course, Luke Prior scorched away from his nearest
rival Jack Hale to win the inaugural
series with Jack picking up the 2nd place in the Series for the over
10s. Michael Biss won the 10 and
under series award with his younger brother, George, 3rd overall, after another good set of runs by
the brothers.
The Harriers are now making
preparations to send a large number of junior and senior teams to the South of England Road Relays to be held
at
Arrangements for the Shepton Mallet junior run, and 5k and 10k
races to be held on October 4th are now well advanced with entry
