Amongst
the 440 runners tackling the 10.1 mile Stickler Multi-terrain race last weekend
were 6 harriers with successes for two members.
This
mainly off road race organised by Dorset Doddlers takes
runners over the 3 peaks of Dorset including Okeford
Hill Beacon, Hod Hill and Hambledon
Hill.
The
crowded and delayed start saw the lengthy mass of runners slowly wind their way
into the first steady climb with the leading bunch included Harriers Tristan
Cooper and Jenny Moore.
With
favourable conditions Tristan Cooper finished in 2nd place clocking
an impressive 1hr.05min.05 sec’s just 30 seconds down on winner Mark Hopkinson
of Taunton AC, whilst Jenny Moore was 1st female in 1:14:55
placed 18th overall, and
first FV 40.
Geoff
Cole overhauled a struggling Pete Wright over the last 2 miles to finish in 119th
place clocking 1:29:30 against Wright’s 1:32:08 who finished 153rd
other V50 finishers were Alasdair Bell 1:38:00 and Simon Jones 1:45:58 in 214th
and 291st places respectively.
