Weston Prom 5km Race

Wells City Harriers Al Jones, Ed Willingham and Jon Gilling all return for a second outing on the 5mile Weston Prom race. This was the third of the nine race series over the winter months, with competitors needing to complete six of the first eight races to be eligible for prizes on the night of the ninth race in May. Conditions were similar to the previous month, probably similar to every month - it always seems to be windy! Al started far stronger than previous month, determined to improve on his time, and soon left Jon slightly behind. Jon managed to move up through the field with his last target proving a tough challenge. It was only within 400 metres that he managed to pass fellow Wells Harrier runner Rob Parfitt. Although running well Rob hadn't entered the race and pulled out just before the finish - a tough training run! Ed was free from pace-maker duties this month, as his step-daughter Kayely wasn't fit to race, and he pushed all the way round for a great time. In fact, all three improved on last months times.
