Competing as Yeovil Olympiads at
track & field and wearing the orange vest
Well done to all of the
athletes that have competed so well this summer in the 4 fixtures. The combined
team with Yeovil Olympiads duly won the 4th and final fixture on
Sept 7th at Exeter Arena. A number of the Harrier’s Monday junior
group competed in this final fixture to ensure the Championship.
For the u’13 girls Roo Black
had a great day winning the Long Jump with her excellent 4.31m. This was a
personal best and pushes Roo up to 11th on the Regional power of ten
rankings. She also finished 2nd in the shot put with a good 7.18m,
another best and into 17th on the regional rankings.
For the u’13 boys Johnny
Forsey had a busy afternoon too, winning the B string 100m in a nippy13.8 to
improve his best by almost half a second and move to 27th on the
regional rankings. Johnny also won the B string sprint Hurdles in 14.6, another
best and went to 21st on the regional rankings. In the javelin he
threw 20.16m for 3rd place, another personal best before helping the
sprint relay team to first place. Curtis Stevens easily won the B string 800m
in 2.30.5, not far short of his personal best which sees him at 11th
in the region. Curtis also jumped a new best of 1.30m in the High Jump to place
him at 30th in the regional rankings.
Now for the autumn and
winter season which sees the combined team competing at road and cross-country
as Wells & Yeovil and wearing the blue & yellow vest of the Harriers.
