At the regular Harrier’s junior monthly competition night at Millfield on July 16th there were almost 50 enthusiastic youngsters to have a go at a full range of track and field events prior to awards based on the previous 3 competition evenings held in the period April to June. For many this was their second competition in a week following the previous Wednesday’s Mini Olympics.

In the fastest sprint race of the night it was the turn of newcomer Craig Bateman to steal the show with a fantastic 12.4 which if recorded in a competitive match would see him feature in the top 30 from across the region according to the power of ten rankings. Not too far behind him was the other top sprinter of the night, Year 7 Henry Brown, with another 12.6. Leah Bowhay was first for the Year 8/9 girls with 14.7, with Lamorna Schanche not too far back with 15.3.
