Yeovil 5km May 2007
There were also some great
performances by the 24 Harriers competing at the May edition of the Yeovilton 5km road race last Wednesday. In a field of 162
athletes, Jon
Gilling led the way for the Club with his 5th
place in 16.12. Then a whole sweep of Harriers occupied 18th to 21st
positions with just 6 seconds separating all of them. James Hardy in 17.27 just got the better of Tom Lock, and Dickie Wythe inched ahead of Les Lock, 17.33, this time out.
Tom Lock was first junior
athlete home and Karen Buckley was
first woman home in an excellent 18.13. Carole
Buckland and Pat Challis were
using the race as part of their preparation for the Moon Walk Marathon and are
steadily building up the mileage as well as the speed. Steve Padfield also made a welcome return
to racing after a long lay off.
