Shave Cross ‘
This was the 59th
running of this village event. I don’t suppose there’s hardly anyone around who
ran that very first one back in 1948! The race is difficult to find…try looking
for Shave Cross on a road atlas…but it’s worth the effort and this year’s race
saw a record entry of almost 150 runners. The race is part of a fund-raising
event for local village charities and is always held on a Saturday evening.
The race consists of
2.5miles uphill on road and then the same amount down hill, mainly across
fields. As ever there was a handful of Harriers taking part. Paul Chadwick was 22nd, Nick Edwards 28th and Sue Cook was 6th woman home,

race around the field Jake Cook, age
4, made his racing debut and ran all the way through the long grass. Solomon Chadwick was 5th in
the junior race
