The recent Parrett Trail Relay organised by
Crewkerne Running Club saw 2 Wells teams take part at short notice, the
majority of runners choosing to run their legs together so as to support each
other and not get lost! Credit must go to Jim Benson who acted as Team
Manager, commiserations to him at suffering a recurrent hamstring injury
during Leg 1 - he didn't bottle out but managed to complete the 10.5 miles
with a strong finish. Co-runner Sue Cook ended up driving the team support
vehicle but others drove in convoy to meet up at Wynyard's Gap for a grand
finale which saw Bob Powell and Paul Chadwick bravely running uphill towards
the inevitable drinking hole, Bob very pleased to knock 8 minutes of his time
from last year. Thanks and congratulations must go to all who took part
including Colin, Jude who made her Wells Relay Team debut, Chris Storie, Helen
Rutter, Viv Fursland, Jane Whittaker, Terry K bravely undertaking the race
after his recent illness and Caroline Fabre, our international marathon
runner. Approx £1000 was raised for Cancer Research and an enjoyable day for
all involved.
