  • Fundraising results from the races we support are on website
  • Athletics Network Proposal for Development initiatives. Agreed  £500 Contribution for first year towards a 2-day/week coaching resource esp to help Monday juniors session.

 

 

Membership Update: Simon Jones

Now have almost 300 members on roll.  Need to keep 2 databases updated – our own and English Athletics.  This is difficult to rationalise.

 Application form asks for preference for Newsletter delivery – mail, on line etc.  This brought up discussion about Newsletter content and distribution.

EA Membership numbers are now being asked for at some events.  This is likely to expand.

Review of Juniors Summer Training Camp: Paul Chadwick

·         Well attended - raised a surplus for reinvesting in junior activities.

·         Paul asked to record thanks to all coaches and juniors who helped out.

·         We will sponsor some of our juniors to become coaches this winter. 

·         We are looking for more support and junior volunteers, focused on the April and August 2010 proposed events.

 

 

Review of Track Season: Paul Chadwick

·         SW Athletics League Div 1– joint Yeovil & Wells team finished 3rd.

·         Southern Women’s – 9th out of 16.

·         National Young Athletics League – we finished 6th of 14.  Concern was expressed about quality of competition– await YOAC review.

·         British Men’s League team promoted to Div 3 of British League. Congratulations to Team and managers.

 

 

Need to get more information on website about Track and Field events. Athletes to be encouraged to contribute reports and photos.

Street 5k Series: Paul Chadwick for Mike

Need to promote this especially with other clubs and via schools.  Also need to get more volunteers to help, so as to break down tasks.

Road Relay: Paul Chadwick

Southern Road Relays at Aldershot, 26th Sept.  13 teams entered, jointly with YOAC.  Team managers agreed. Paul & Tatiana to draw up budget for road relays and XC entries and travel costs 2009/10.

Starts October 11th at Bridgend for the Gwent League.

Somerset championships will be at Hestercombe Gardens, 6th Dec Wells volunteers needed to help us assist Taunton AC to marshal.

Annual Social and Prize Giving:  Paul reported for Pat Challis

Pat has confirmed date and venue (28th November, Wells Town Hall) and buffet booked (at cost of £8.50 a head) so far Price of tickets suggested to be same as last year (£12 per adult; £8 for kids; £35 family) and to be available from Pat, Bob & Paul and all cttee members encouraged to commit to selling 5.

Training Review:  All

Mondays going well. Looking for more coaches to get involved, to include turnover of those who move on to college etc

Tuesday ticking over well – need additional back up coach for Jon

Wednesday – important that 1 or more members commits to doing the Running & Fitness coaching course

Need to consider getting volunteers to help , such as scope for a 10 week preparation phase for Wells Fun Run
